No it is not. Long term laxative use can slacken the bowel and cause dependency. Motion Potion will in fact do the opposite. It is very gentle and can sometimes take up to 3 or 4 days to see the full results. It should be used to maintain regularity. If you are severely constipated (no bowel movement for 3 or more days) it may be necessary to take herbal laxatives first and then take Motion Potion to maintain regularity.

It is very important to stay hydrated whilst taking fibre. Especially for people prone to constipation or impaction. 

ADULTS & CHILDREN OVER 12:

  1. 1 heaped teaspoon (or 3 - 4 caps) daily.
  2. Stir vigorously into 1 cup of water or juice. Drink immediately as mixture will
    thicken.
  3. Always follow with 1-2 glasses of water.

Important: Always take 30mins away from medication.

CHILDREN 6 - 12yrs:

  • 1/2 metric teaspoon (or 2 caps) 


CHILDREN 2 - 6yrs:

  • 1/4 metric teaspoon (or 1 cap) daily or every second day. 



Children and the elderly that may be dehydrated should not take Motion Potion unless water intake can be increased and supervised.

It is recommended that children under 6 are closely supervised whilst taking Motion
Potion. If stools are regular, soft and easy to pass the dosage is correct.

Becoming dehydrated whilst taking Motion Potion a can cause constipation, If this occurs stop taking Motion Potion for a few days and drink plenty of water until bowel movements return to normal. Resume Motion Potion at half dose. 


Prolonged constipation and laxative dependency:

If you have suffered from constipation for years or have
become dependant on laxatives it is important to start on smaller doses of Motion Potion and continue to take the same dose of laxatives temporarily
whilst you wean off the laxatives. 

Here's an example of the recommended process:

  1. Week 1: 1/2 teaspoon MP (or 2 caps) daily with plenty of
    water.
    Keep laxative dosage the same. 
  2. Week 2 & 3: 1 heaped teaspoon MP (or 3-4caps) 
    daily with plenty of water.
    Half laxative dose daily or take every second day. 
  3. Week 4: 1 heaped teaspoon of MP (or 3-4caps) daily with
    plenty of water.
    Take half dose of laxative every 3rd or 4th day. 
  4. Ongoing: Continue with 1 heaped teaspoon of MP (or 3-4caps)
    daily and only take laxative as needed. 


Diarrhoea:

You can take up to 3 heaped teaspoons of Motion Potion
(spread throughout the day) if you have urgent diarrhoea, as Motion Potion will add bulk to the stool and absorb the excess water. Drop down to 1 dose daily once diarrhoea has stopped.

No, Motion Potion is a food.

Although, more is not necessarily better. Most people find 1 teaspoon a day works like magic.

It can be taken in larger amounts while detoxing or fasting and helps to keep the appetite at bay for people trying to reduce their meal portion sizes.

Maximum suggested serve is 1tsp, 3 times/day – this is only recommended during periods of fasting or urgent diarrhoea. .

Fibre requires liquid to swell into a large fluffy mass in the intestines. If there is not enough water required to do this, it will have the opposite effect, slowing digestion and possibly causing constipation.

Therefore it is important to drink 1-2 glasses of water straight after taking Motion Potion and maintain a high daily water intake.

Absolutely, children that are eating solid food can take Motion Potion.

Just a quarter of the serving size for children under 6 yrs and a half the serving size for children under 12 yrs. Remember to keep fluid intake high.

Motion Potion is safe for all ages to take AS LONG AS THEY DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.

Young children and even babies can have a small amount of Motion Potion mixed into baby food, yogurt, etc but it is only recommended when the child is not constipated because of dehydration.

Motion Potion is recommended during pregnancy and has proven to be very beneficial. Constipation can be a big problem for many pregnant women. This is a safe gentle alternative to laxatives.

You may first want to take herbal laxatives so that you have an elimination. Then use Motion Potion to help improve regularity. Make sure you drink at least 2 Lt of water a day.


In cases of bowel impaction it is important to start with a half serve and work up to a larger serve. Supervision from your health care practitioner is advisable.

Absolutely, there is no gluten in Motion Potion therefore it is safe for Celiacs.


Gluten is the protein found inside the wheat seed. Wheat grass does not contain gluten.

Our Psyllium is super fine and very easy to drink. We get a great deal of feedback from people who have previously been unable to take Psyllium and find that Motion Potion is fine.
